Mr. Jason Vaughn is a true Midwestern visual lyricist with two heads and one heart.
Chicago is a city that keeps tattoo culture behind grid iron bars. For the artists, it is a small, yet delicate network that sits on the evolutionary cusp of transforming a historical craft into a fine art.
For clients, it is a flourishing underground mecca of styles that are pushing the envelope of the tattoo medium.
Amidst the more common Americana and Asian Influence tattooing that reside in Chicago, there thrives a young gun that hums to the vibration of his own needle. This reference is, of course, to one of Chi-town’s finest, Mr. Jason Vaughn. This gentleman’s illustrative lexicon is filled with a menagerie of characters. Each one meticulously crafted in a palette that radiates a transient energy and true badass quality.
His musings are undoubtedly influenced by a dichotomy of artists such as Edward Mucha and Tim Biedron. But unlike, Biedron - a former counterpart at Deluxe Tattoo - Vaughn dictates a more eclectic use of color and creates a stronger focal hierarchy in each composition.
Since the last time that Undefinedink had covered Vaughn in late 2011, he has evolved faster then the CTA can build new trains. This patron of the the fine arts can be found back within the familiar confines of Deluxe Tattoo on the north side of Chicago.
Chicago’s tattoo industry has high hopes for this young Jedi, amongst many of its rising talents to lay the foundation of the medium’s new era in the Windy City.
